Does it annoy you to see Delhi so many times? Yeah? Then you must be someone from one of those other cities and you can go… never mind. Anyway, the point is, India Today just came out with a list of all the best colleges in India for different things that people study, and… well… the headline.
By all accounts, New Delhi tops the list of all the best colleges in India in the following streams: Commerce (Shri Ram College of Commerce), Arts (St. Stephen's College), Science (St. Stephen's College), Fashion (National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)), and Medicine (All India Institute of Medical Sciences).
Bangalore comes in a not-very-close second in this list of firsts, with three mentions, for BCA (Christ University), Law (National Law School of India University), and BBA (Christ University). Kanpur, Pune, Varanasi and Mumbai get one mention each, for Engineering (Indian Institute of Technology), Mass Communication (Symbiosis Center of Media & Communication), Fine Arts (Faculty of Visual Arts - Banaras Hindu University), and Hotel Management (Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHM)), respectively.
Moreover, if you trouble yourself to actually look at these lists, you’ll find that a disproportionately high number of spots belong to colleges that are part of the Delhi University. According to the report, a whopping 9 on 15 of the country’s top Commerce colleges appear to be in New Delhi. DU registered record high numbers during the admission season, and was able to maintain its cut-off percentage comically high, with the average cut off staying at around 98% across streams.
Here are lists of the top 10 best colleges in various streams as per the report:
