The National Talent Search Examination, which is held every year by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), has been scheduled for this year to be held in November and May. The state level examinations will be held on 7th November 2015 (in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands) and on November 8 (in other states as well as Union Territories), while the national level test will be held in the month of May 2016.
Students who are studying in class 10 in any recognised school can appear for the stage 1 of the National Talent Examination. These exams will be conducted by States/Union Territories. Students who are registered under the Open Distance Learning programme can also take the exam provided they are below 18 years in age, not employed and appearing for the class 10 exams for the first time.
Students can obtain the application form the State/Union Territory Liaison Officer after while they will have to submit it to NCERT signed by the school principal. Different states may have different deadlines to submit the application form. The details can be viewed on the official website of NCERT.
The National Talent Search Examination will have 3 sections, namely, Mental Ability Test (MAT), Language Test (LT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). There will be a negative marking system in the stage two (national level).
